I’m Luke Spray, this is my idea to do you a favor, and your chance to help fund my trip to Belize.

Let me explain:

On January 5th I will be moving to Belize, Central America. I have been given the opportunity to attend a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). The trip will be 9 months and is going to cost me more than $8,000.

My Idea is this: I want to trade my services to 80 people for $100 each. Whatever you need done, I’m willing to do it for a $100 donation. I know that what I can offer you is probably not worth $100. This is your chance to help me, and my chance to do anything I can to show my appreciation to you.

Obviously $8,000 is a large amount of money, but it will cover all of my expenses for the duration of my trip. In that sense, it is actually quite inexpensive.

So what is this trip all about?

For the first three months I will be living on a boat. I will be part of a school where speakers will come on a weekly basis. The school has a distinct focus on leadership. I will have the opportunity to learn and grow and be challenged with God’s plan for my life. For the next three months I will go on outreach. Outreach is an opportunity to put the first three months teaching into practice, as well as have a positive impact on the lives of those we meet. After that, I will have an internship for three months. This will be a chance to focus and refine the efforts of the previous six months. The entire trip is meant to challenge me, to push me out of my comfort zone, and to grow more in tune with God.

I understand that a couple of paragraphs about why I’m hoping you’ll participate might not be completely convincing, so if you want to know more I’d be more than happy to sit down and tell you everything I know. I owe you that much if I’m asking such a huge favor from you.

Depending on who you are, $100 may or may not be a large amount of money. For the purpose of my trip, it is a huge amount of money. I felt it was a reasonable amount to ask for, and obviously it would be unrealistic to find 1,000 people to donate $8 or something like that.

I need your help in raising this money. I don’t feel comfortable just asking for money. So I want to do what I can for you. If you want me to walk your dog, I’ll do it. Babysit your kids, I’ll do it. Mow your lawn, I’ll do it. Do your homework, wash your dishes, write you a poem, read you a bedtime story, you name it, I’d like to do it for you.

I can’t express to you how much it would mean to me if you just gave me a chance. Even if you hate my idea or can’t afford to give me a penny, I’d like to ask you to shoot me an email.
